SILVER AND EGGPLANT

New album on the amazing Moone Records

They went all out with the artwork on these, each cover a unique piece of art. We just played an amazing string of shows around its release and sold out of all physical copies. There is a second run in the works and I'll post when they're available. In the meantime, you can grab a digital version over at bandcamp

Seth Kasselman has been drifting through the LA & Phoenix underground for decades. Quietly releasing a steady stream of singular heady LPs. From dense experimental avant-jammers, to the most subtle quiet hush, he masterfully builds worlds for the listeners to haunt.

His latest album, and debut under the Moone Imprint, finds Kasselman armed with a box of reel-to-reel tapes found at a thrift store. It breathes a Iife of its own with strange nostalgia leaving you with more questions than answers. Working with field recordings and found sounds, SILVER AND EGGPLANT opens up a time capsule of mysteries, saturated with synth embellishments. Folkloric timelessness, juxtaposed by fast edits, and voices from sleepless nights with Mid-Atlantic poise. Kasselman works in these echoes of the past with dubbed out grist. After the B side takes you through a bustling cityscape, a whisker sheds its peeks and valleys and the coaster safely drops off with a familiar tune from an empathetic stranger.

UR Sounds 003

Seth Kasselman - Left Out c90 (UR Sounds 003)

Abandoned, left to rot and melt, the perfect syrup for the latest cassette offering by Warm Climate’s Seth Kasselman “Left Out” is an experiment in analog tape abuse taken to extremes, full of ephemeral debris. Sourced primarily from cassettes found at Goodwill thrifts, Kasselman stretches, mixes, and beats “theme and variation” into the ground with the aural equivalent of blurry vision. Taking the idea of nostalgia and turning it into a fog of passing sounds, “Left Out” is both familiar and completely disorienting. This 90 minute sound collage, meticulously crafted like most of Kasselman’s work, also sounds as though it was pulled from a burning garbage can. In addition to sourcing his sounds from other people’s leftovers, Kasselman also points out how the Goodwill itself, by acting as a non-profit, allows their CEOs to get wealthy while treating their underpaid employees, often disabled, like disposable objects.

UR Sounds 002

Seth Kasselman - Mmediate Rolls c30 (UR Sounds 002)

The solo clarinet debut from Warm Climate’s Seth Kasselman. While the instrument has been a staple of Warm Climate’s sound, Mmediate Rolls ditches rock action and affected syrup in favor of raw acoustics. Taking cues from adventurous solo performers like Roscoe Mitchell and Steve Lacy, Kasselman straddles the line between modern composition and fierce improvisation. Structured themes are put through a series of chance operations, creating the two unique performances presented here. With no extraneous instruments keeping foot, Kasselman allows himself to play with form and nuance as only a solo performer could. Edition of 200.
